Jennifer Zelaya is one of College Compass' brightest and most dedicated students. A graduate of The Next Step Public Charter School and a devoted mother of two, Jennifer hopes that her participation in College Compass will help prepare her for the demands of post-secondary academics. "When I go to college, I'll be on the same page as college students," she said. She also pointed out that she is gaining valuble life skills through her Strategies for College Success course.  (continued)....

"I've learned how to break tasks down into bite-size pieces. I've also found that sometimes I procrastinate in my work, but I'm learning stratgies that will help me avoid that.

Her drive to succeed is evident in her excellent attendance and her class particiaption. "That girl is on her game," remarked Ellie Phillips, Executive Director of Beyond Talent. Jennifer's dedication has been a great example to other students in the program, and Beyond Talent hopes to enroll many more students like her in the future. Jennifer plans to enroll in a local college or university in the fall in order to pursue  a degree in social work.
