Beyond Talent partners with community-based organizations throughout the District of Columbia to provide services to GED and External Diploma Program students. Here is a sample what some of our partners have to say about Beyond Talent and its programs:
“Beyond Talent Peer Mentors have been a valuable asset to many organizations around the city through their time and dedication to serving adult learners.
More importantly, the Peer Mentors are able to relate to the adult learners because of their shared experiences in completing their education. They are able to share their success with the adult learners and offer encouragement when it is most needed.”
-- Rachel Goodling, Educational Director at Living Wages
"While earning their high school credentials is a major step forward for our learners, they need more education to qualify for jobs that pay a living wage or that allow learners to enter a career path leading to self-sufficiency.
More than three quarters of our graduates do go onto postsecondary education or training programs, but it is a difficult transition to make, one that requires more support than we are able to give."
-- Patricia de Ferrari, Academy of Hope
"Beyond Talent’s commitment to organizational sustainability, sincere desire to grow, and mission driven programming make it the best organization to provide unique, comprehensive support services nontraditional graduates need to succeed."
-- Quinci Moody, Fair Chance
“I can attest to the growing number of youth aged 16-24 entering GED programs. . . They are one of the fastest growing populations in GED programs in the District.
According to staff at our College Information Center, these youth need support as they attempt to overcome barriers to higher education and employment, because their previous work studying for the GED may not have adequately prepared them with the various academic and life skills needed for college. The services Beyond Talent provides are instrumental to helping them do so.”
-- Ben Merrion, Education Specialist
