If you do not have your high school diploma, then we encourage you take a
preparation class to prepare yourself for the GED. For everyone that chooses to
take a prep course, it generally is of little or no cost to you. This is because the State Education Agency
funds many preparation classes.

We're Looking for a Few Good Mentors! |

Beyond Talent has more students than we can serve! You can help by volunteering to mentor a student. You could also tutor! Many non-traditional graduates need to improve their math and writing skills to succeed in college. Some of our students come to our office during the day for tutoring, so if you work downtown you could meet with your mentee once a week on your lunch hour! Right now Beyond Talent staff is tutoring these students, but with your help, we could work with even more. Let us know if you'd like to help -- we'll set it up! |

Beyond Talent to Serve Greater DC |

Beyond Talent is partnering with the Maryland Multicultural Youth Centers in Silver Spring (MMYC) to serve the youth in its GED program! MMYC will refer students to Beyond Talent, and Beyond Talent will provide 2 on-site workshops to their students in November and December. Though some of our students live in Maryland, this is the first time Beyond Talent has provided services at a site outside DC proper. Population shifts are making this more and more important. |

Beyond Talent Happy Hour A Success! |

Beyond Talent's first annual fund-raising happy hour at Madam's Organ on Sept. 25, 2008, was a great success, with about 35 supporters attending and almost $500 raised. |
