Celebrating 2008!

FY 2008 Program Achievements

Beyond Talent has exciting news to report for 2008! One of Beyond Talent's top priorities going forward is to put systems in place that will show the true impact of Beyond Talent's programs as they grow. 

 23 non-traditional students went to college
 1 pursuing LPN training
 1 pursuing electrician’s apprenticeship
 9 achieved goal of full-time employment
 8 were paired with volunteer mentors

Beyond Talent Serving Twice As Many Sites!
By partnering with a number of providers, Beyond Talent reaches many underserved populations including the homeless, adjudicated youth, disconnected youth, and TANF recipients. Beyond Talent in 2008 expanded to include more "partners" -- sites who refer students, host Beyond Talent Peer Mentors or other programs, and collaborate with Beyond Talent to ensure seamless transitions for their graduates.

Three Cheers for Peer Mentors!

Peer Mentors this year started tracking ALL of their students' progress and achievements, so the number of mentees showing improvements will be even higher at the end of 2009! Here's what we know about 2008:

 Peer Mentors have performed more than 860 hours of community service, tutoring their peers in GED and EDP programs
 1 Peer Mentor joined AmeriCorps
 3 mentees passed the GED
 3 mentees showed improvement on the CASAS test of reading and mat
